Did you know that only 1 in 16 children in NSW eat adequate vegetables?

Don’t worry I was shocked too! So let’s talk about the problem.

In 2017 it was estimated that around 20% of children aged 5 to 16 are overweight or obese in NSW. These children are at an increased risk of carrying excess weight into adulthood and have an increased lifetime risk of chronic illness and premature mortality. Staggeringly high levels of sugar in food and an increasingly sedentary technology obsessed lifestyle has resulted in a drastic increase of childhood obesity prevalence.

The good news is, changing the trajectory for overweight children is possible and requires creating environments at home and school to support healthy eating and active living.
